In May 2008 The Gio Project gained four-years of funding through the Big Lottery Fund Basis programme to provide information, advice, training and one-to-one support to voluntary and community organisations, including social enterprises, industrial and provident societies and charities, with income over £50,000 in the City of Manchester.
