Consultation Event for the Voluntary & Community Sector Infrastructure in Manchester

February 27, 2012 News No Comments

Macc

There are two separate consultation events. You may wish to attend one or both.

Description of event:

MACC would like to invite you to a special voluntary sector consultation.  These events have been arranged throughout the city, over a number of days, to look at the development and changes to Voluntary and Community Sector Infrastructure in Manchester.

Macc’s role in the voluntary sector is evolving. As part of that we have committed to reviewing the management, governance and structure of Macc but above all to consult with the local sector about the kinds of support and activities you want us to run.  We are now in a position to start this process however; we don’t want this to be a one-off exercise: it’s an ongoing dialogue. Our vision is that the consultation should be owned by and accountable to the local sector but we need your help.  Please attend a session and let us know what you want from us now and in the future.

Private organisations are similarly keen to get involved with the charitable sector, with many employing staff specifically for the fulfilment of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives. CorporateCharityConnections.com is helping to make these links between the charity and private sectors.

The site is primarily aimed at private sector professionals (CSR, social responsibility, corporate responsibility) who are looking for strategic charity partners. Charities have the opportunity to post short videos talking about what they have to offer corporate partners on a strategic, business level. The site also features a selection of best practice case studies on areas such as volunteering, corporate social responsibility and marketing to provide useful food-for-thought.

National Survey of Charities and Social Enterprises

August 11, 2011 News No Comments

This national survey gathers the views of the leaders of charities, social enterprises and voluntary organisations in England. These organisations go by many names, and many also consider themselves to be community groups, co-operatives or mutuals, a club or society, or a non-profit organisation, housing association, faith group or trust.

The survey was first carried out in Autumn/Winter 2008 as the National Survey of Third Sector Organisations. The second wave of this survey took place Autumn/Winter 2010. The title of the survey was simplified to the National Survey of Charities and Social Enterprises. However the two waves of the survey were equivalent in all other respects.

The results from the 2010 survey are available on the website below:-

Hard work, dedication & commitment always pays off…(Foodie Awards)2010

October 20, 2010 Blog No Comments

Hard work, dedication and commitment always pays off…….Congratulations to Mustard Tree for winning the Manchester Food and Drinks Festival (Foodie Awards)2010.

Mustard Tree is a local charity that provides support and works towards long-term solutions for the homeless and marginalised across Greater Manchester.

This year they won recognition as award winners at the Manchester Food and Drinks Festival. The festival awards provide a benchmark for excellence in the hospitality industries throughout Greater Manchester. The Judges had some tough decisions to make this year, resulting in a very strong set of contenders in all categories.

The Gio project is big fan of Mustard tree and we work alongside the charity in fundraising, and general capacity building. We are exceptionally proud of Mustard tree for winning the award despite strong competition from Nexus Café, Incredible Edible, Earth Café and Diggle Lane Allotments.

Well done to all the volunteers and staff who work tireless year after year providing such an invaluable service.

Charities will be allowed to compare themselves with others in their advertising

March 19, 2010 News No Comments

Revised advertising regulations will permit charities to broadcast adverts on TV and radio in which they compare themselves to other charities.

The new regulations, published yesterday by the Committee of Advertising Practice  and the Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice, say that charities are permitted to make comparisons with the work done by other charities so long as they abide by the “strict rules governing comparative advertising”.
