At the moment many charities are looking to forge new partnerships in the private sector, hoping to benefit from an increased profile and influence. Private organisations are similarly keen to get involved with the charitable sector, with many employing staff specifically for the fulfilment of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives. Networking with the stars of Cori – Moodswings Network

Moodswings network, a Manchester based charity that helps people recover from mood, stress and anxiety problems, held their fundraising event last Friday at the midland hotel in Manchester.   In recent months, the Gio Project supported the charity through our training and one-to-one application review. I was very excited to be invited as a guest and really looked forward to putting on my glad rags for a change.

The event was by far the most creative and successful fundraising event that I have ever witnessed by a third sector organisation.  This was off cause helped by the fact that they were nominated as one of Coronation Street’s charity of the year.  The cast and production team, therefore turn out and really donated plenty of dush to support the charity. … Continue Reading

Charities raising money through ebay

eBay’s ‘Give at Checkout’ scheme, which gives buyers the option to add a small charitable donation when making purchases, has raised £2.54m since it was launched in November 2008.

The website has revealed that up to May 2010 the functionality, which allows users to add a donation of £1, £2 or £5 to their order, has benefited 533 charities, 57 of which have received more than £10,000 each.

eBay for Charity helps charities of all sizes to raise funds on the UK’s biggest online marketplace, ebay.co.uk

eBay for Charity gives 21 million active eBay users an easy way to support their favourite charities by making donations when they buy and sell. Buyers can shop knowing they’re supporting a good cause. Sellers can donate a percentage from any sale to a charity of their choice and add Gift Aid to their donations. Charities can also sell their own items directly on eBay.co.uk to raise unrestricted funds.

As eBay’s partner for the eBay for Charity programme, MissionFish vets charities, processes donations, collects Gift Aid and advises charities on how to make the most of the eBay marketplace.

Every day charities raise more than £11,000 through eBay for Charity.

New home required for community accupuncture service

Manchester Pride offers fund to support lgbt fringe events over the festival

Manchester Pride LogoManchester Pride is inviting local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organisations, promoters and individuals to apply for grants of up to £500 from the Community Events fund to form part of this year’s Pride events programme.

The fund was established in 2009 to raise the diversity of events taking place throughout the ten day festival. Applications from community and voluntary sector organisations, registered charities and individuals wishing to organise events for the festival are particularly welcome.

The Community Event Fund can be used for the following:

· Artists, performers or speakers fees
· Travel for artists and performers
· Marketing
· Technical or projection equipment hire
· Venue hire
· Materials

Planned events must take place between Friday 20- Thursday 26 August 2010. Each application will be assessed by a panel of assessors made up of representatives from Manchester Pride.

The closing date for applications is Monday 8 March 2010. Applications should be sent to: Manchester Pride Community Events Fund, Manchester Pride, The Department Store, 5 Oak Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester, M4 5JD.
