Youth Entrepreneurship opportunity with GMYN

TRAINING OPPORTUNITY – Wants to be an Entrepreneur Programme to young people aged 13 – 19

Greater Manchester Youth Network is delivering the Who Wants to be an Entrepreneur Programme to young people aged 13 – 19, who live in the North Manchester, City centre, Central Manchester and Whalley Range area of the City. The programme is an enterprise course which aims to give young people the opportunity to set up and dissolve 
a small business. Throughout the course the young people should gain a good understanding about marketing, costing, budgeting, branding and the different types of companies.

GMYN have a pre-awareness session on Tuesday the 17th of January from 5.30pm till 6.30pm.

Venue: The Friends Meeting House, 6 Mount Street Manchester M2 5NS (behind Central Library).

Training from MDPAG: Breaking Down Barriers in Health Care

It is estimated that around 11 million adults in theUKare disabled, but according to the British Medical Association, “there is evidence that inequalities in health outcomes and access to healthcare among disabled people continue to exist.” As a result, disabled people have lower life chances due to poor access to health care.

MDPAG’s training will give you the tools to effect changes in your workplace and show you that even small changes can make a huge impact.

This training opportunity will cover:

  • Legal responsibilities of service providers

Lifelong Learning Programme – 2012

The overall priorities for the 2012 Call are as follows:

  • Develop strategies for lifelong learning and mobility.
  • Encourage cooperation between the worlds of education, training and work.
  • Support initial and continuous training of teachers, trainers and education and training institutions’ managers.
  • Promote the acquisition of key competences throughout the education and training system.
  • Promote social inclusion and gender equality in education and training, including the integration of migrants and Roma.

Specific priorities also apply under the sectoral programmes.

Social Return on Investment Practitioner Training 2012

The SROI Network will be holding SROI Practitioner Training in Manchester on 26-27th January 2012.

The course is designed to be taken as 2 days together, and provides training to a level suitable for trainees seeking to become accredited practitioners. It is designed as the first step for individuals considering doing an SROI. No prior experience is required.

SROI is an approach to understanding and managing the impacts of a project, organisation or policy. It is based on stakeholders and uses financial value of the important impacts identified by stakeholders to identify what is important to them. SROI is an approach to understanding and managing the value of the social, economic and environmental outcomes created by an activity or an organisation. It is a framework for measuring and accounting for the value created or destroyed by our activities – where the concept of value is much broader than that which can be captured by market prices. It seeks to reduce inequality and environmental degradation and improve well being by taking account of this broader value. SROI can be used across all sectors – for business, investors, commissioning, and for organisations with a social purpose.

Resilience for Community Groups – free conference

Community North West and the Empowering Communities Project invites community activists, local workers, community groups and small voluntary organisations from the North to come to this Conference to plan how best to organise, campaign and survive.

Chaired by Professor John Diamond, key national speakers from the Carnegie UK, Voice4Change, National Coalition for Independent Action, Community Development Exchange and the national TUC will be challenging the Big Society view that we are “all in it together.”

Professor John Diamond from Edge Hill University will introduce the idea of the need for an alternative narrative to that being given by the Coalition Government in terms of what Big Society means to local communities across the North West.

IoF Mentoring Scheme Launched for the North West

Institute of Fundraising North West are delighted to announce the launch of the North West Mentoring Scheme.

The NW Mentoring Scheme is a fantastic opportunity for members in the region to be involved as volunteer Mentors or Mentees, with full training and support.

If you would like to volunteer as a mentor, or to be a mentee, please print off the mentoring brochure and send off the expression of interest as shown. If successful, you will then be sent an application form to be filled in, together with the dates of the initial training day for mentors, and the dates for matching days between mentors and mentees.
