The Gio Project, in partnership with NAVCA, delivered a ‘social media surgery’ in Manchester for groups who wanted to learn more about practical tips and solutions for any social media queries. Queries on the day ranged from finding out more about Facebook, Twitter techniques and woes with WordPress. This was held at The Zion Arts Centre in August.

Since the new year i’ve been thinking up ideas, doodling, planning, creating and developing the new site. It’s been made using wordpress and i’ve tried to make it as user friendly as possible based on the feedback we received from our Gio Project review.
This session provides technical knowledge of how to use social networking sites and is aimed at those who are comfortable with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube. As the title suggests you will be given tactics for developing your social media strategy which will help you to grow your network and communicate to your users in a way that yields actions. The 51 top tactics cover a vast range of issues but include tips on how to set up pro accounts, the features of and why you should use Twitalyzer, hashtags & Twitpics, the benefits of igoogle and how to add blog feeds to your facebook fan page. A practical hands-on workshop for those wishing to learn the basics required to establish a new wordpress website. This is a full day session providing step-by-step guidance on setting up a basic website, customising the appearance, creating new pages and posts, uploading photos and videos, insertting links and setting up multiple user accounts.

London Advice Services Alliance (LASA) has updated its ICT Knowledgebase with twenty new and revised articles that provide guidance and advice for organisations, helping them to save money and do more with the ICT and technology they already use.
Whilst there are a number of trusts and grant funders who look favourably on applications for ICT within a project application, a limited number of funders will specifically fund ICT. Some of these are listed below. Please note that funding priorities, criteria and programmes change constantly so check with the funder first that this information is still current.
